Climbing Mt. Kinpu

Mount Kinpu (金峰山)

As you all know, I am residing in Yamanashi Prefecture. This place, as you can see through my pictures, is surrounded by mountains. During the climbing season, you"ll be able to see so many hikers come in this prefecture to climb there desired mountains including the tallest mountain here in Japan, Mt. Fuji.

Last September 9, 2018, I tried hiking for the very first time. I went to Mt. Kinpu which is one of the Okuchichibu Mountains and located on the boundary of Yamanashi Prefecture and Nagano Prefecture. It is also included on the list of  the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains being on the 30th. Its elevation point is 2,599 masl (8,527 ft) and it's the second highest peak of Okuchichibu mountains.

Usually, it takes 7 hours to hike (ascend and descend) Mt. Kinpu from the long route but since it was my first time, it took us quite long to reach the peak and to descend. There are two trail route for this mountain, the Mizugaki sansou route (long route) and Odarumi tōge (short route) and obviously we took the Mizugaki sansou route.

Having this kind of experience is fun even though I've got a hard time recovering from the body pain. I must say that everything was worth it when I reached the top of Mt. Kinpu though it was foggy and so windy when we reached the top, the view while descending the mountain was surreal though.

I don't know why but since I climbed this mountain, I told myself that I will climb all the 100 famous Japanese mountains. I became in love with mountain hiking and will surely be going for more! So expect for more hiking experience posts from now on. Hehehe !
